Do you hate learning about menstruation, but love Disney?  Then this video is for you!  Set to the enchanting and whimsical tunes of a theme park ride, you too can join in and learn about what periods are and how to manage them.  All thanks to Walt Disney.

In 1946, The Story of Menstruation was commissioned by the International Cello-Cotton Company, now Kimberly-Clark (Kotex), to be produced by Walt Disney Productions.  The film was shown in health classes all over the U.S. up until the 1960s, and makes the science of maturing and menstruation highly approachable.  Not to mention, the film debunks those silly little myths about not being able to bathe or exercise during a period.

Though some of the commentary throughout the film is considered sexist, The Story of Menstruation does a bang-up job promoting holistic healthcare and reinforcing just how normal periods are:  “There’s nothing strange nor mysterious about menstruation.  All life is built on cycles, and the menstrual cycle is one normal and natural part of nature’s eternal plan for passing on the gift of life.”
